Context:
The International Fellowship Programme 2CA-Braga in Clinical Research offers an exceptional opportunity for Master or PhD students enrolled in foreign institutions, as well as healthcare professionals and researchers working abroad, to enhance their skills in clinical research, with a special focus on the development and implementation of clinical trials. Designed by the Clinical Academic Center - Braga (2CA-Braga), the programme's main objective is to capacitate participants with the ability to conduct rigorous and innovative research that has a direct impact on clinical practice and patient care.
Throughout the programme, participants will receive intensive, specialised training in key areas such as biostatistics, epidemiology, and, particularly, clinical trials methodology. This training will enable them to design, conduct, and analyse high-quality clinical trials while learning to manage the various challenges involved. Additionally, collaboration with experienced mentors and participation in cutting-edge clinical research projects will provide continuous learning, helping participants develop critical skills for conducting translational research. The programme not only supports technical and scientific development but also ensures that participants acquire the necessary autonomy to manage and execute clinical trials, ensuring they are conducted ethically and efficiently.
With a solid and practice-oriented structure, the International Fellowship Programme 2CA-Braga in Clinical Research aims to significantly contribute to the training of participants, providing them with the tools they need to actively advance clinical research and improve healthcare.
Objectives:
The International Fellowship Programme 2CA-Braga in Clinical Research has the following objectives, ensuring that participants acquire the necessary tools to excel as leaders in clinical research, directly impacting healthcare and scientific advancement:
- Develop essential skills in biostatistics, epidemiology, and clinical trial design. The programme provides specialised training in these fundamental areas, enabling participants to design robust studies and apply advanced methodologies to address clinically relevant questions.
- Facilitate the development and completion of high-impact research projects. Participants are encouraged to develop innovative studies that have the potential to improve patient care, fill knowledge gaps, and generate results that can transform clinical practice.
- Prepare participants to secure independent research funding. The programme trains participants to develop competitive funding proposals and implement strategies to obtain support from national and international organisations, ensuring the long-term sustainability of their research projects.
- Promote the publication of research results in leading scientific journals and encourage participation in national and international projects. The programme fosters excellence in scientific communication, capacitating participants to disseminate their findings in high-impact publications and international conferences. It also encourages engagement in research projects funded by national and international organisations.
Activities:
- Collaborate with 2CA-Braga teams (Clinical Trials Site, CRO, and R&D), gaining experience in all stages of the clinical research process, from trials design to implementation.
- Participate in ongoing studies, working with multidisciplinary teams to investigate new therapeutic approaches, treatment protocols, and diagnostic strategies, contributing to solutions for real clinical challenges.
